Value network analysis shows the structures of purposeful networks are varied. This is according to the roles and focused outcomes of the value network. Now, an evidence-based study proves the hypothesis. The European Commission report is an evaluative study of EU innovation systems. Final approval and acceptance for publication has been received. It was developed under the guidance of Peter Johnston and Frank Cunningham. The study and its annexes (with 100 pages of value network analysis of regional innovation systems in Europe) are available at Open Value Networks. Links and descriptions of the reports are below also. Oliver Schwabe and I led the integration of the value network analysis for the project along with wonderful support from Judith McCrory and others in the value network community. There is a long list of co-authors on the reports. We must extend special thanks to our colleague Edna Pasher. Edna provided invaluable leadership in meeting the challenges of this project. This is a breakthrough study. It is a key milestone in validating value network analysis as a tool for understanding large-scale, complex business ecosystems. - Verna Allee January 2008
